Quillio + HotDocs

Template automation plus AI — direct integration coming soon.

HotDocs handles rule-based document automation; Quillio handles open-ended AI drafting and review. The two are complementary, and a direct integration is on the roadmap.

In short

Quillio is building a direct integration with HotDocs — here is what it will do when available, and what you can do today. Status: coming soon. Today, firms using HotDocs can generate documents from HotDocs templates, run Quillio review or refinement on the generated document, and feed the reviewed content back into the matter. The direct integration will tighten that loop so HotDocs-generated drafts flow into Quillio and back without manual steps.

What it does

Quillio inside HotDocs

HotDocs generates documents from answers to a structured interview — fast and consistent, but rule-based. Quillio handles the parts that rules cannot: unusual facts, non-standard clauses, plain-English explanations for clients. The direct integration will let you generate a HotDocs draft, send it to Quillio for review or refinement, and receive the output back — all without leaving HotDocs. Today, you do that loop manually.

Capabilities

What you can do

Review HotDocs-generated drafts

Generate a draft in HotDocs, send it to Quillio for a risk review or style check. Today via copy/paste; direct handoff planned.

Refine for unusual matter facts

When the HotDocs interview does not cover an unusual case, use Quillio to refine the generated draft against the specific matter facts.

Plain-English client versions

Take a HotDocs legal document and produce a plain-English client-facing explanation in Quillio.

Research a clause before automating it

Use Quillio to research and validate a clause, then build the validated version into a HotDocs template.

Template review

Ask Quillio to review an existing HotDocs template for clarity, risk, or compliance before rolling it out firmwide.

Data flow and security

Data flow

Today, HotDocs-generated documents are copied or exported and uploaded to Quillio manually. Processing happens on Quillio's Australian-hosted infrastructure. When the direct integration ships, the HotDocs output will flow to Quillio over an authenticated connection, with Quillio outputs returning to the firm's matter system of record.

Security

HotDocs (Caret Legal) holds enterprise security certifications. Quillio holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 on Australian-hosted infrastructure. The planned integration will use secure API authentication and TLS for data in transit.

Who uses it: Australian firms using HotDocs for high-volume template automation — typically wills and estates, conveyancing, lending, and employment practice where structured document generation is the norm.
Questions

HotDocs integration FAQs

Is the HotDocs integration live today?

No — it is on the roadmap. Today you can still pair HotDocs and Quillio manually: generate in HotDocs, review or refine in Quillio, save back to the matter.

Does Quillio replace HotDocs?

No. The two solve different problems. HotDocs is rule-based template automation; Quillio is open-ended AI drafting, review, and research. Most firms that use HotDocs seriously will still want HotDocs — Quillio covers the cases the rules cannot.

Can Quillio review an existing HotDocs template?

Yes. Paste the template text into Quillio and ask for a clarity, risk, or compliance review before you roll it out firmwide.

Where is document data processed?

On Quillio's Australian-hosted infrastructure. Processing stays on Australian soil.

Will the integration cost extra?

No. When it ships, it will be included in standard Quillio per-user pricing.

Will the integration let me build Quillio into a HotDocs interview?

That is one of the patterns we are scoping — using Quillio to answer or validate specific HotDocs interview steps. Tell us if that would help your templates.

Connect HotDocs and try it.

If HotDocs is central to your drafting, Quillio does not replace it — it complements it. Start the free trial, paste in a HotDocs-generated document, and see how Quillio handles review and refinement. We will notify you when the direct integration ships.
