Does Quillio cover AAT decisions?
Yes. I cover Administrative Appeals Tribunal decisions from its establishment in 1976 through to its replacement by the Administrative Review Tribunal in October 2024, plus all ART decisions since. I index by division (for example, General, Social Services and Child Support, Migration and Refugee, Taxation and Commercial, Veterans' Appeals, Freedom of Information) and by type of decision.
AAT to ART transition
The ART replaced the AAT on 14 October 2024. I handle the transition transparently: when you search for an AAT decision by citation I return it, and when you ask about current law I use ART decisions and any recent AAT decisions that remain relevant. I do not silently treat them as one body of case law — the statutory framework is different.
Divisional coverage
Full coverage of every division. For each decision I index the division, the applicable legislation, the decision-maker, and the outcome. For taxation matters I also cross-reference to the ATO view and any subsequent Federal Court appeals.
Search and citation
Ask by citation ([2024] AATA 1234), party name, or topic. I return the full text, facts, issues, and reasoning. For decisions behind a paywall I cite and summarise what is public but cannot reproduce the full text.
Step-by-step
- Open legal research. Select "Legal research" and choose AAT/ART.
- Filter by division. Narrow by division and date range.
- Review results. I return decisions ranked by relevance with facts, issues, and reasoning.
- Check appeal history. I flag any Federal Court appeal of the decision and link to it.
Common issues
- The ART applies slightly different procedural rules — I do not mix AAT and ART procedure
- Taxation Division decisions often depend on the ATO view — I cite the ATO ruling separately
- Social Services decisions are usually anonymised — the facts are all I can show you
