Does Quillio have a desktop app?

Quick answer

Quillio is a web app rather than a traditional desktop application. However, the web app is installable as a Progressive Web App on Windows and macOS, which gives it a native-feeling experience with its own window, dock/taskbar icon, and keyboard shortcuts. This is the closest we offer to a desktop app and most users do not notice the difference.

Why web rather than desktop

A web app means every user has the same version, every time, with the most current law applied and every update delivered instantly. A desktop app would add a per-user installation burden, version drift, and a support overhead that does not improve the experience meaningfully.

Installing as a PWA

In Chrome, Edge, or Safari, open Quillio and click the install icon in the address bar. The app installs to your system and opens in its own window with no browser chrome. All features work identically to the browser.

Microsoft Word integration

For document-heavy workflows, the Microsoft Word integration may be more useful than a desktop app — it brings Quillio into Word, where most drafting actually happens.

Common issues
  • Installing as a PWA gives the app a native feel without the overhead of a true desktop binary
  • The Word integration is more useful for most drafting work than a separate desktop app
  • No roadmap for a traditional .exe / .dmg — the web is the best delivery mechanism
