How to bulk upload matter files to Quillio
To bulk upload matter files, drag a folder onto the Quillio matter screen, or use the "Import matter" option to pull files directly from your practice management system. Quillio ingests PDF, Word, Excel, email (MSG/EML), and scanned documents in one batch, with no file count limit.
Drag and drop a folder
The fastest way. Open the matter in Quillio and drag an entire folder from your desktop or network drive into the matter screen. Quillio preserves the folder structure, de-duplicates identical files, and begins OCR on scanned material straight away.
Import from practice management
If you use LEAP, Smokeball, Actionstep, or Filepro, you can import the matter file directly. Quillio authenticates to your practice management system once and then pulls the matter files whenever you open a matter. No re-upload required.
What gets processed
Every supported document type is processed on upload: text extraction for digital documents, OCR for scanned documents, metadata extraction for emails. Large files are processed in the background — you can start work on smaller files while the larger ones finish.
Step-by-step
- Open the matter. Open an existing matter or create a new one.
- Drag the folder. Drag a folder from your desktop or network drive into the matter screen.
- Wait for processing. Files appear immediately; OCR and indexing run in the background. A progress bar shows the status.
- Start work. Once indexing is complete you can ask Quillio to review, chronologise, or research across the whole matter.
Common issues
- Zipped folders need to be unzipped first — I do not extract zip files on upload
- Password-protected PDFs need the password removed before upload
- Very large single files (over 500 MB) should be split where possible
