How to export a matter from Quillio
To export a matter from Quillio — open the matter, go to Settings, and click Export Matter. You receive a ZIP containing the source documents, all AI outputs, the chronology, and the audit trail. Exports are used for archiving, portability, or transfer.
What is included
The export ZIP contains the original uploaded source documents, every AI output produced during the matter (drafts, memos, chronologies), any manual notes and annotations, and a dated audit trail of activity. Everything a handover would need is included.
What is not included
Model training data, system-level logs, or any data belonging to other matters. Each export is matter-specific and isolated.
Retention
The export is generated fresh each time. We do not retain generated export files in long-term storage — download it within 7 days. You can re-export any time.
Step-by-step
- Open the matter. Open the matter in Quillio and confirm you have admin or owner access. Matter viewers cannot export.
- Go to Settings. Click the gear icon in the top right of the matter view. Settings opens in a side panel.
- Click Export Matter. Select Export Matter. Confirm the contents to include (source documents, outputs, audit trail). Start the export.
- Download the ZIP. When the export is ready (usually under 2 minutes for most matters), download the ZIP. Save it to your firm's practice management system for archival.
Common issues
- Very large matters (hundreds of files) can take longer — leave the export running
- Export permission is restricted to admin and matter owner — check access
- The download link expires after 7 days — re-export if needed
