How to import from Dropbox to Quillio

Quick answer

To import from Dropbox, connect Dropbox once from "Firm settings" → "Integrations", then on any matter click "Import" and choose the Dropbox folder. Quillio pulls in every document (PDF, Word, scanned images) and runs OCR automatically. You can re-sync at any time to pick up new documents added to the Dropbox folder.

Authorisation

A firm administrator authorises the Dropbox connection using Dropbox's OAuth flow. If your firm uses Dropbox Business, the authorisation covers team folders. Individual user Dropbox accounts can also be connected personally.

Selective sync

I do not copy the entire Dropbox account — only the folders you select per matter. This keeps the matter focused and avoids pulling unrelated files into a matter context.

Ongoing sync

You can enable ongoing sync so new files added to the Dropbox folder appear in the Quillio matter automatically. This is useful for live matters where the paralegal is continuously adding material.

Step-by-step
  1. Connect Dropbox. Firm settings → Integrations → Dropbox. Authorise via OAuth.
  2. Open the matter. Or create a new matter.
  3. Click "Import from Dropbox". Select the folder(s) to import.
  4. Confirm. Files pull in and OCR runs automatically.
Common issues
  • Dropbox Business team folder access requires admin approval — individual accounts connect instantly
  • Very large folders (10,000+ files) should be imported selectively — I warn before a bulk sync
  • OCR on scanned documents adds 30-60 seconds per document — I run it in the background
