How to import from Google Drive to Quillio
To import from Google Drive, connect Google Drive once from "Firm settings" → "Integrations", then on any matter click "Import" and choose the Drive folder. Quillio supports personal Drive and shared drives (Google Workspace). Google Docs and Google Sheets are converted to Word and Excel on import so I can review them in your usual format.
Shared drives
Shared drives (used by most Workspace firms) behave differently from personal drives — permissions are managed at drive level, not folder level. I respect the permissions set by the shared drive admin.
Google Docs conversion
Native Google Docs and Sheets are converted on import to Word and Excel. Formatting is preserved. If you later save a Quillio output back to Drive, I can optionally save as Google Docs format instead of Word.
PDF and scanned material
PDFs and scanned images import as-is with OCR. I support the usual formats (PDF, PNG, JPG, TIFF).
Step-by-step
- Connect Google Drive. Firm settings → Integrations → Google Drive. Authorise via Google OAuth.
- Open the matter. Or create a new matter.
- Click "Import from Drive". Select the folder(s) to import.
- Confirm. Files pull in and OCR runs automatically.
Common issues
- Shared drive access depends on the shared drive admin — I flag when access is missing
- Google Docs exported as Word may lose some formatting (complex tables) — I flag when the conversion has quirks
- Google Drive has a per-day API quota — very large imports (100,000+ files) may need to be staged
