How to invite a colleague to Quillio
To invite a colleague, open "Firm settings", click "People", and send the invitation email. The colleague receives a link, sets their password, and is added to the firm workspace. Their matter access is controlled by their role and any matter-level permissions you have configured. Invitations can be sent by any firm administrator.
Roles
There are three default roles — Administrator (full firm access plus billing and settings), Lawyer (access to matters they are assigned to), and Paralegal (access to matters they are assigned to, usually without billing visibility). You can change a person's role from the People page.
Matter access
By default, colleagues see the matters they are added to. You can assign matters individually, or set up team folders so everyone in a team sees the team's matters. Firm administrators see every matter unless you restrict them.
Onboarding
New colleagues receive a short onboarding — the 3-minute intro video, the quick-start guide, and a sample matter to practise on. Most lawyers are productive within an hour. Partners often take longer to adapt because they are used to delegating this kind of work, not doing it themselves.
Step-by-step
- Open Firm settings. Click your initials in the top right, then "Firm settings".
- Go to People. Click "People" in the left navigation.
- Send the invitation. Click "Invite person", enter the email and role, and send.
- Confirm access. Add the new colleague to the relevant matters or teams.
Common issues
- Administrator role should be limited — too many admins weakens audit clarity
- New colleagues cannot see matters until they are explicitly added (or are an Administrator)
- Invitations expire after 7 days — re-send if it is missed
